Manufacturing Systems Laboratory (LSM DTI-UI) was officially established since the enactment of SK from the Dean of Faculty of Engineering, Universitas Indonesia No: 601/D/SK/FTUI/VI/2007 about the Establishment of Manufacturing Systems Laboratory at Department of Industrial Engineering, Faculty of Engineering, Universitas Indonesia on June 29, 2007. Manufacturing Systems in the perspective of Industrial Engineering Department covered all the steps that are generally done in the development, manufacturing, and distribution of a product.
LSM DTI-UI is being developed with the concept of Reconfigurable Manufacturing System Facility that is robustly constructed from the stage of product development to the stage of an integrated production system simulation. Reconfigurable Manufacturing System Facility will be used extensively both in the field of automation equipment and software integration. LSM DTI-UI has the concept of an open system so it is possible to integrate with existing software such as CAD / CAM, databases, MRP and ERP.

Manufacturing Systems Lab (LSM) DTI-UI serves as a platform to develop the basic concepts of science in Industrial Engineering and strives to be a center of excellence in the field of manufacturing system in Indonesia. There are four pillars needed for LSM DTI-UI to be a center of excellence, namely:

From the point of view of Department of Industrial Engineering-UI, there are 3 pillars Concept of Operations (CoP) from LSM DTI-UI that is expected to provide facilities for students, researchers and industries to collaborate on providing best practice in manufacturing.
